Here we want to offer you a small guide of tipical products and food of Peru. We also want to show the world, some natural products who grow in Peruvian soil, wich in many cases, are use to cure some medical problems.

The Cat's Claw

Cat's ClawThe Uncaria tomentosa, popularly called cat's claw, it's a creeper and climber plant wich have a medicinal use. Native from Peru, it grows in the virgen lands of humid jungle, but also in prolonged reposed lands . The plant climbs to the top of 20 or 40 meters height trees. Traditionally a tea is produced using his bark, his leaves and the root to heal several illnesses.

It's used as traditional medicine for the Asháninkas's ethnos, located in the Peruvian Amazonía, and who applies it from many centuries to heal deep wounds, to relieve pains of the bones, for the kidneys and to treat the women after the childbirth.

From it's discovery by the modern medicine, cat's claw is applied to resolve the following problems :

WARNING: A plant called cat's claw wich grows northerly Mexican and in Texas's the South. This plant, the Acacia gregii, it does not have no benefit known to the health and it can be poisonous.
